Highland Hillwalking club was founded in 1978 to help people to ‘get out more’ exploring Scottish hills in a social and safe way. We’ve flourished since then and meet every other weekend either for a day or weekend meet, and publish a calendar of venues about 6 to 12 months in advance. We support hill skills training including navigation and winter skills, and have several social events throughout the year. Have a look at other pages to get an idea of where we’ve been recently, the hills we do and where we plan to go. Please get in touch if you have any queries or would like to join us on a walk.
Information
We welcome new members with some hillwalking experience. If you are not sure if this club is for you please do join us on up to 2 walks before you decide to join. Membership costs £42 per year, and includes membership of Mountaineering Scotland (MS) – with a reduced fee if you are already in MS. You will be covered for 3rd party liability insurance, discounts at certain gear shops, support the outdoor environment, help in improving your outdoor navigation and skills (if required) and access to all our walks and events. If you would like any further information, including on how to join the club, please contact us:
We recognise the importance of green spaces and the outdoors in supporting good physical and mental health, and also that not everyone may like walking in groups. Generally our groups are between 2 to 6 people. We all think and behave differently, but if you have specific requirements you are encouraged to contact us so that we can make our outings work for you. Your only obligation is to contribute to the safety of the group (see our participation statement).
